Hello and Salams!It's finally high time to explain what this blog is about and who I am - in English, of course.
ein fremdwoerterbuch
Ein Fremdwörterbuch means a dictionary of foreign words. I haven chosen this title because... well, it could have been any word. I simply wanted a title that includes every topic and does not sound too specific but yet interesting. Another reason is that I truely love reading books, new words and creating neologisms.
(I think Fremdwörterbuch is the only German word that has such a long translation in English. Weird.)
about?
As you can see on the menu-bar (on the right) this blog is about art, culture, politics, Islam and media. Also about life, university, movies (especially short films) and music.
English, please!
Recently I have started blogging in both German and English - blue for English! Reason being that I feel so isolated from the rest of the non-German-speaking world whilst writing in German. For your information: What I write in English is not identical to what I write in German. Not at all. :)

Last but not least: The blog's author. My name is Kübra Yücel, I'm 21 years old and one of those plenty German-Turkishs living in Germany. But second to none I'm a Muslim. That's probably what features me most. I'm studying B.A. Political Sciences at the University of Hamburg (Germany). Right now I'm doing my final (3rd) year at the best university of my world - SOAS in London.
getting ahead
I'm a freelance journalist and work for newspapers and magazines. I have - among others - gained experience at taz (Hamburg), emel (London) and today's zaman (Istanbul). For two years I have been the editor-in-chief of the youth magazine Freihafen. This year I have co-authored the book "Skandal! Die Macht öffentlicher Empörung".
